Massa Marittima is universally known in Italy and abroad as “The pearl of Tuscany”.
Lying on a hill a few kilometers far from the beautiful beaches of southern Tuscany, our little town is the perfect combination of art, culture and territory.
The old town is full of narrow streets wich lead the visitor into a timeless piece of history. From the main square you can see in one space environment, all the buildings necessary for the public life of the city in ‘medieval communal era’: the Cathedral, the Townhall Palace, the Podestà Palace, the Market Loggia, the Public Fountain known as the “Source of Abundance” because of the famous painting.
At the top of old town, built under the domination of Siena, you can find the Clock Tower.
In addition to the cultural heritage and museums, Massa Marittima offers many opportunities for who wants to do some sport like trekking, cycle-tourism and horse-riding.
Furthermore in Massa Marittima take place some important summer events as the Opera in the main square and Tuscany Photo Festival.
